Concerts in Munich at the weekend: which venues, which routes and how long an evening takes

No calendar lists every concert on a Munich weekend. Where to look, which venues are close together, how long an evening lasts door to door and what to drop first.

Concerts in Munich at the weekend: which venues, which routes and how long an evening takes

There is no complete list of the concerts on a given Munich weekend. The city portal, the city magazine and the ticket platforms each list different nights, with or without start times, with or without prices.

This page helps with the two decisions you still have to make once you have found a concert: which venue fits with the rest of your day, and how much time a concert evening really takes. The durations are planning figures, not organisers' data.

Where are a weekend's concerts listed?

  • in-muenchen.de: the broadest weekend listing, with times, rarely with prices.
  • songkick.com: complete for pop and rock, but often without a start time.
  • muc-now.com: smaller stages, occasionally with a price.
  • munichcityofmusic.de: clubs and the concerts at the Oktoberfest.
  • muenchen.de: classical music, church music and the city's serenades.

The listings regularly contradict each other, on the venue as well as on the time. An entry in a calendar is therefore not a confirmation: start time, doors and remaining tickets are only reliable at the venue or the ticket seller.

How much time does a concert evening take, door to door?

Type of eveningPlanning figure, door to doorWhere the time goes
Small venue in the centre3.5 to 5 hoursgetting there, doors and cloakroom, 90 to 150 minutes of concert, getting out
Large arena, such as the Olympiahalle or Zenith4.5 to 6 hourslonger journey, security checks, 2 to 3 hours of programme
Concert in a beer tent during the Oktoberfest4 to 7 hourswalking across the grounds, waiting at the tent, dense crowds on the way out
Daytime concert, such as a Frühschoppen (a late-morning concert)2.5 to 4 hoursshorter programme, can be combined with sightseeing

Organisers only give the start and end on stage. Doors, security checks and the journey home are recorded in no source, which is why these are ranges that you are better off rounding up when you plan.

After a concert in a big arena, the shortest way home is the best: if you sleep near Ostbahnhof or the Olympiapark, you avoid the packed U-Bahn after midnight. The places to stay in Munich can be filtered by district on the map.

ConnectionOn foot?Planning figure
TonHalle and Technikum in the Werksviertelyes5 to 15 minutes
Residenz (Hofkapelle) and the Old Townyes5 to 15 minutes
Milla and Stromdepends on the route15 to 25 minutes
Residenz and Theresienwieseyes, hard going during the Oktoberfest25 to 35 minutes
TonHalle and Muffatwerkpossible, not advisable between two concerts30 to 45 minutes
Theresienwiese and Olympiahalleno30 to 60 minutes by U-Bahn
Feierwerk and Olympiahalleno60 to 90 minutes on foot
Zenith and city centreno35 to 60 minutes including waiting

That gives four groups you should not mix in one evening: the Werksviertel, the Old Town with the Residenz and classical music, the Oktoberfest, and the arenas in the north. If you plan two concerts in one evening, stay within one group.

What does a concert weekend look like in practice?

Take the weekend of 2 to 4 October 2026 as an example, the last one of the Oktoberfest, with the public holiday on the Saturday. On the Friday, Apache 207 is listed at the Olympiahalle, start time 8pm. Arriving around 6:30pm to 7pm keeps the risk of missing the start low, and getting out drags on past 10pm.

On the Saturday, the Residenz Serenade is on in the Hofkapelle, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. One hour of music, but with the journey and doors, more like two and a half to three and a half hours. At the Oktoberfest, brass bands play in the tents, but only until the last day of the festival.

The calendars give hardly any prices: from €40 for an evening at the Backstage, €48.75 for a ticket at the TonHalle, without the listing clearly naming the concert. Fees, cloakroom and the night journey come on top.

What do you drop first when the day gets too full?

  1. The second concert of the evening, if the venues are in different groups.
  2. The afternoon sightseeing, not the buffer before the concert you have booked.
  3. Changing district at Oktoberfest peak time on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The buffer before a big arena stays: 45 to 90 minutes is a planning figure, not an official one. Missing the doors costs you more than a shorter walk around the Old Town. Blocks for the rest of the weekend are on the page about events this weekend.

For a weekend with two concert evenings, a room with a good night connection is worth it, for example on a U-Bahn line with no change. The places to stay in Munich for the weekend show location and cancellation terms.

Frequently asked questions

Where can you find all the concerts in Munich at the weekend?
Nowhere in full. The broadest listings are in-muenchen.de and songkick.com, plus muc-now.com for small stages and muenchen.de for classical music. Only the venue itself confirms the start time and remaining tickets.
How long does a concert evening at the Olympiahalle take?
More like 4.5 to 6 hours door to door, as a planning figure. The programme itself usually lasts 2 to 3 hours, plus the journey, security checks and the crowded trip home.
Can you go to two concerts in one evening?
Only if both venues are close together, such as the TonHalle and the Technikum in the Werksviertel. Between the Olympiahalle, the Zenith and the city centre you need 30 to 60 minutes including waiting.
Are there concerts at the Oktoberfest?
Yes, brass bands and other bands play in the tents and at the Oide Wiesn every day until the last day of the festival. Your seat depends on the tent, not on a concert ticket.
